Roman Catholic Airport Chaplaincy Foundation Schiphol (ANBI)

The Roman Catholic Church has been working at Schiphol since 1975 to formalize the pastoral care at the airport. In the early years, the work was mainly pioneering. With the arrival of a Protestant colleague, a collegial consultation between the pastors appointed by the churches has been developed.

In 1987, the Roman Catholic Airport Chaplaincy Foundation Schiphol (RKLS) was established by the Bishop of Haarlem. The objective was to look after the material interests of the Roman Catholic Airport Chaplaincy and to advise and support the pastor. In those years, the Protestant churches set up a working group for advice and support only.

Since 1992, the contacts between the Roman Catholic foundation and the Protestant working group started hesitantly and developed into an intensive collaboration. In 2005, the participation of the Anglican and Old-Catholic Church in the Netherlands was added to this. There are now three foundations in which the various denominations participate. In 2014, they established a joint foundation to support the work of the chaplains of the Airport Chaplaincy at Schiphol (Schiphol Airport Chaplaincy Support Foundation, SOLS).
