The foundation board, the volunteers in the Meditation Centre and the pastors together form the Airport Chaplaincy at Schiphol. Three pastors have been appointed at the airport, each with a different background. The pastors provide emotional and spiritual care and support to passengers and airport employees. They assist those who encounter difficulties during their journey, whatever difficulties that may be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Pastor Marieke Meiring-Snijder is an active minister and since November 1, 2015, she is employed by the Protestant Schiphol Airport Chaplaincy Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marieke has served several parishes in the Netherlands as well as abroad. Between 2004 and 2007, she was an associate pastor in the English-speaking Presbyterian Church of Malaysia. Besides her responsibilities as a minister in Kuala Lumpur, Marieke lectured at two theological seminaries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Her return to the Netherlands was followed by an appeal from the Protestant community at IJsselstein, with whom she was associated from 2009 to 2015. During that period she was also involved as a chaplain in the Johannes Hospitium at Wilnis. In 2017 she completed the postgraduate education in spiritual direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017 she completed the postgraduate education in spiritual direction and in 2022 she finished the Emoena curriculum<\/a> at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Marieke is officially associated with the Ecumenical Church Community the Ark in Hoofddorp.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jophi\u00ebl van der Meij, MA, has joined the Airport Chaplaincy as a spiritual counselor since September 1, 2025. She is employed by the\u00a0Protestant Schiphol Airport Chaplaincy Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2012 to 2015, Jophi\u00ebl studied for a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies at Leiden University, where she specialized in Islam. From 2016 to 2018, she studied for a Master's degree in South Asian Studies, focusing on religions such as Islam, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, and Buddhism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the following years, Jophi\u00ebl worked as a service content consultant and storyteller for various organizations, including the Watersnoodmuseum in Ouwerkerk. In the meantime, she took modules in general psychology.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2023, Jophi\u00ebl enrolled in the Theology and Religious Studies: Spiritual Care program at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, a program designed to become an interfaith spiritual counselor. She completed her internship at the Schiphol Airport Chaplaincy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Father Gerard Timmermans was dedicated on July 7, 1996. After having worked in Zambia for four years, he started in Amsterdam. He has worked for and with asylum seekers and refugees. Besides this work he was asked to give an impetus to the change in migrant communities. This is on a managerial level, nationwide and to a design by the diocese.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Father Timmermans joined the Airport Chaplaincy on January 1, 2008, and is connected to the Roman Catholic Airport Chaplaincy Foundation Schiphol<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
